Zenit puts forth the utmost effort to implement a beneficial, consistent, and sustainable public relations policy for all stakeholders in the areas where it will engage in mining activities. Our aim is to carry out a production activity within the framework of mutual trust and social approval by properly presenting ourselves and our projects to the community.

The following main headings have been identified as the immutable principles of this policy and are covered by Zenit's guarantees for civil society:

  • To operate in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, without deviating from scientific and ethical principles.
  • To provide continuous and accurate information to all relevant stakeholders and be accountable when necessary.
  • To acknowledge environmental and occupational safety as indispensable priorities.
  • To support regional development through social responsibility projects.

To implement these principles, we focus on the following details:

  • To employ the latest and most accurate engineering knowledge and technologies necessary for the activity.
  • To provide and ensure all necessary training in occupational health and safety for our staff.
  • To use the newest and safest information and technology for environmental protection, conducting regular checks.
  • To continuously and regularly communicate information about our activities to the community.
  • To be accountable for the potential negative effects of its activities on the environment, human health, and the regional economy.
  • To operate in full compliance with all legal requirements set by the state.
  • To respect all values as a natural part of the local community.
  • To always maintain an open complaint/request/suggestion system for the civil society.
  • To contribute at the highest level to regional development by giving special importance to local employment and trade.
  • To contribute to development and structuring in the areas where activities are carried out by providing necessary financial funds through social support projects.
  • Zenit does not expect any financial return from social support projects. If a supported project concludes with production and sales, the entire income will be used to create funds for other social projects.

ZENIT MINING CO. DONATION and AID POLICY PRINCIPLES

Requests conveyed in writing to the Public Relations department with the following criteria and methods are accepted by the company in accordance with its social support policies:

  • The requester and theme for support being in line with national and local social values.
  • The request not being geared towards personal gain but rather being for the benefit of the entire community or a significant part, depending on the dimensions of the locality.
  • The project affecting positively the economic production and income sources and diversifying and increasing them in the region.
  • Requests such as education materials, scholarships, courses, etc., being in line with national education policies for children in need of special education or for students preparing for high school and university exams.
  • Serious support requests for potentially successful national-level teams and athletes acting as licensed athletes.
  • Public requests via village headships, not directed towards personal gain, for the general infrastructure and social needs of nearby villages in the mining region.
  • Meeting the useful needs of institutions such as law enforcement and gendarmerie, who work for public safety and whose services and duties would benefit during their service, not targeting an individual.
  • Not disturbing the Public Relations budget and expenditure planning levels.

Support and aid requests, starting from village headships and reaching higher authorities, are received in writing and put into practice with the approval of the company management.

The expenses made are checked for their whereabouts and appropriate usage through third-party sources. Whenever possible, instead of directly providing cash support, payments are made to the establishment or person where the loss or product was purchased against a legal receipt. The suitability of the amounts to be paid for the work or product is always checked by our relevant personnel.

Ultimately, when a support or aid request is completed, all stages it has gone through within the company, from the request letter onwards, along with necessary documents or images, if applicable, are reported, presented to the company's management, and then archived.
